Besides some beautiful landscapes like rivers, lakes, mountains, rice terraces, Vietnam can also be proud to host a large number of spectacular waterfalls which attract thousands of visitors every year. Let’s explore the seven most majestic waterfalls in Vietnam, including four in the central highlands that the French colonists had rightly nicknamed “THE LAND OF BEAUTIFUL CASCADES”.
BAN GIOC (Cao Bang)

Ban Gioc Waterfall, located in Cao Bang Province (Northeast region), is one of Vietnam’s most impressive natural sites. It forms a natural border between China and Vietnam, in the province of Cao Bang.
This waterfall, about 30 meters high, is separated into three falls, themselves separated by rocks and trees. You can hear its roar from afar. It is the 4th great waterfall on a national border with Iguaçu (Brazil), Victoria (Zambia) and Niagara (Canada) waterfalls. One path can lead tourists to the top of the waterfall where there is a stone that marks the border between Vietnam and China.
The best season to visit this place is in September and October, when the summer rains that feed it are less frequent and the rice harvest is in full swing.
TAC TINH (Lai Chau)

The province of Lai Châu, located in the North – West of Vietnam, is on the border between China and Laos, it adjoins the Vietnamese provinces of Lao Cai, Son La and Dien Bien Phu. You will have the opportunity to visit one of the most remote regions of Vietnam, especially if your wanderings take you to the district of Sin Ho, 60 kms west of the town of Lai Châu.
Besides, in Lai Chau, you can admire many other fabulous sites namely: Tac Tinh Waterfall in Binh Lu, Tam Duong. This waterfall is linked to the love story of two young people who love each other madly but who could not live together because of bad people.
CAM LY (Da Lat)

Located about 3 kms west of central Da Lat, Lam Dong province (Central Highlands), Cam Ly Waterfall is one of the top destinations for tourists visiting Da Lat. This beautiful cascade is named after a chief of the Lat tribe, K’Mly – who with his talents, wisdom and experience that led the tribe to bright days, and a happier life.
This place is an endless inspiration for artists. Cam Ly waterfall is located in the middle of a crowded residential area, like a natural picture blending with the bustling bustle of modern people, just a short distance can separate the bustle, hustle and blend in with the calm and peaceful nature.
PRENN (Da Lat)

Located at the foot of the Prenn Pass, on the road from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat, Prenn waterfall is perhaps the largest and most beautiful waterfall in the whole region. A path leads behind the curtain of water, offering a breathtaking view of this wonderful natural site. With the height of nearly 10 meters, about 20 meters wide, the waterfall has no definitive rushing sound, but the gentle sound of gently falling down.
PONGOUR (Lam Dong)

Located about 50 kms south of Da Lat, Lâm Dong province, Pongour Waterfall is one of the highest in Vietnam. In the 1920s, after exploring all of Indochina, French researchers considered the central highlands of Vietnam to be truly “THE LAND OF BEAUTIFUL CASCADES”. Of which, Pongour waterfall is the most prominent and is considered as “The best cascade of the south”. For a long time, it has always been a tourist attraction with the wild beauty of nature, with water flowing up the steps, creating a unique scene.
DRAY NUR (Dak Nong)

Going to Buon Ma Thuot, city of the Central Highlands, province of Dak Lak, visitors will be impressed by the romantic and mysterious beauty of the most impressive waterfall in the region: that of Dray Nur. Located 30 kms from Ho Chi Minh City, the Dray Nur waterfall, over 30 meters high and 250 meters wide, connects the province of Dak Lak to that of Dak Nong.
From here, you can wander the pristine forest trails to watch the trees of thousands of years old, explore the amazing caves, or wait for the sunset to watch a thousands of bats flying into the shelter.
YANG BAY (Khanh Hoa)

Nha Trang Bay, Khanh Hoa Province (Central), is considered one of the most beautiful beach city in Vietnam. The hinterland is also worth a visit, especially for its beautiful waterfalls, the palm in this field going to Yang Bay which welcomes year after year an increasing number of tourists in search of wild nature.
Located 45 kms from the town of Nha Trang, at an altitude of 1,000 meters, this waterfall is surrounded by beautiful forests and mountains. It is fed by various rivers from the Central Highlands, including the Cai River. Each level of this multi-storey waterfall contains basins of clear, cool water. The last one, 1.2 meters deep, is ideal for swimming and safe for children. Therefore, Yang Bay waterfall is always a great destination for families in the summer.
